Description:
Human Insulin-like Growth Factor-I (IGF-I) is a single chain, 70 amino acid polypeptide that stimulates growth and differentiation in many cell types. Human IGF-I shares 76 % sequence homology with human Insulin-like Growth Factor-II (IGF-II) and approximately 50 % with human proinsulin. IGF-I is considered to be an autocrine/paracrine and endocrine regulator of growth and protein metabolism acting through the Type 1 IGF receptor.
