Description:
Human Transforming Growth Factor-Alpha (TGF-α) is a non-glycosylated, single chain, 50 amino acid polypeptide which is a member of the Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) family of proteins. It promotes the proliferation and differentiation of cell types displaying the EGF receptor. The biological effects of human TGF-α are likely to be mediated by autocrine and paracrine mechanisms in adult and embryonic cells as well as in a variety of tumors and retrovirally transformed cells.
